Heidi Mortenson

Heidi Mortenson grew up to the sound of her father's car repaired in the garage and her mother's organ played in the living room. As a teenager Mortenson moved to Barcelona, where her interest in music began to evolve. She experimented, recorded her own voice in a washing machine, building microphones from telephones and creating music through a walkie-talkie.

From there her career took off. She was nominated for Resident Artist at LEM festival in Barcelona, played the opening concert at the Transmediale Festival in Berlin, released several works and received a wide range of positive critical notes in the meantime. Since then, Mortenson has added worldwide festivals, artist residencies and outstanding projects and collaborations to her CV.

In 2008 The Telegraph, UK wrote in a concert review:

“The girl who totally blew my mind was Heidi Mortenson (…) She conjures up weirdly colourful, avant-garde dance tracks out of nothing (…) Fantastically entertaining and completely original, if Madonna really wants to start pushing popular music into new areas she should forget working with established American production talents like Timbaland and give this mad Dane a call.”
