NEW SIGNING & DK TOUR

Published February 28, 2014 15:01

It's a great honor to welcome Danish producer and modular synth freak Mikkel Meyer to Rump Recordings!
After his acclaimed collaboration with NON from Shadow Huntaz on his debut album ‘BACON’, Mikkel Meyer steps into a new territory of electronic music on his forthcoming "Jolly EP" - out in April, 2014.
Meyer has been inspired by folk artists like Bonnie 'Prince' Billie and uses chord progressions from these styles to shape his music; the chords though are played on classic music machines like the Roland 808 and 303. The result is newfound melodies combined with the low-key use of vocals, which gives ‘Jolly’ a very personal, outward and nostalgic fingerprint, inviting you to dance and reflect.

Mikkel Meyer will be joining Rumpistol on tour in Denmark in March along with UNKWON and visual artist Obscura.

Rumpistol Album Available For Pre-Order

Published January 30, 2014 11:02

Rumpistol's new album "Away" is now available for pre order.
The title "Away" was chosen because all the tracks on the album obviously deals with absence and the many ways to get lost or to disappear into something else. Whether existentially or in the escapist sense - to be on the run from something or to be heading somewhere unknown – a driving force that Rumpistol has often mentioned in relation to his creative process.

"Everyone knows what it means to be absent, or the unpleasant and almost humiliating feeling it can be to be around absent minded people. Paradoxically, absence usually springs from a total presence. So when you're 100% absorbed in one thing then you tend to forget everything else around you. This is the zone I enter when I work alone with my music " Rumpistol explains.

The 3LP version of Rumpistol's album has been pressed at Optimal in Germany - renowned for their high quality pressings.
The 3LP will only be available in 300 copies.
Pre-order your own signed copy through the Rump BANDCAMP.

Rumpistol announces new album

Published November 15, 2013 01:03

Rumpistol announces his new album, "Away" - to be released on Rump Recordings in February 2014.
The first single from the album is called "Asleep" and opens the door to the subconscious mind – a place populated by African thumb pianos, ancient Nordic lullabies and tech beats in odd meters.

After his latest collaborations with Red Baron and John LaMonica, Rumpistol now returns with a sound that has a more clubby feel, while giving a nod to his earlier instrumental efforts.
Active for over a decade, Rumpistol’s forthcoming album is the embodiment of his ability to produce highly elaborate and genre crossing electronic music that still maintains both sharp focus and a strong human touch.

There are 3 remixes of "Asleep" included on this release: the UK's Kelpe delivers an aquatic moog-fest of a remix, Danish newcomer Bwoy De Bhajan adds Amon Tobin-esque snares to his “dreamtech” version while Poland’s Bueno Bros takes the track into tech-house territories.

Rump & Komponent launches "KILE"

Published October 07, 2013 11:35

When the legendary venue LAB shut it's doors for the last time back in 2008 the city of Copenhagen lost it's only dedicated venue for experimental electronic music.
Over a span of 6 years the organization behind LAB - "Komponent" - had been the first to introduce the Danish audience to ”upcoming” acts like Apparat (DE), The Books (US), Dntel (US), Monolake (DE), The Gaslamp Killer (US) & VEX'D (UK) among many others.
Due to a growing frustration over the loss of this venue Rump has now joined forces with the people behind Komponent and a couple of other experienced promoters and music lovers in a new non-profit event organization called KILE (translated to English: ”WEDGE”).
KILE aims to promote artists that wouldn't normally come to Copenhagen and strives to create synergy between music and other art forms by introducing the audience to experimental artists from different spheres of the electronic music scene combined with workshops and artist talks.
KILE launches it's first event on the 7th of December at Prags Boulevard 43 with a night that focus on the forgotten ghosts of the past.
Dedicated to cratediggers around the world we've invited one of the most enthusiastic cratediggers out there: Andy Votel - the founder of Finders Keepers Records plus we have his Danish counterpart in the shape of Simon Dokkedal & Martin Højland of Den Sorte Skole fame.
The first KILE night is based on crowd funding and tickets can be found here.
There will only be 130 tickets sold so don't wait too long!
