KALAHA ALBUM OUT SEPT 1ST
What would the fusion of electronic music, afro and jazz sound like, if interpreted by four very different musicians originating in various areas of the music scene? Two of Danish electronic music's most exciting producers, Rumpistol and Spejderrobot have teamed up with the legendary jazz drummer Emil de Waal and guitarist Niclas Knudsen (Ibrahim Electric) to explore this – the result is Kalaha.
The debut album from jazz/electro quartet Kalaha feat. Rumpistol, Spejderrobot, Emil de Waal+ & Niclas Knudsen will be out Sept. 1st.
'Hahaha' is based on existing tunes from each group member's back catalogue. Through improvisation and transformation new versions appear.
The album embraces both electronic, jazz and afro beat. It provides an array of original soundscapes with melodic and danceable elements to more dark and introvert listen sequences.

"Away Rmxs" feat. Opiate, Bodwan & Shatter Hands
Three previously unreleased remixes + the acapella of the title track taken from Rumpistol’s 2014 album will be released the 30th of June, 2014.
The three remixers have take 3 quite different approaches to the original vocal track.
Danish electronic pioneer and master remixer Opiate aka Thomas Knak delivers an incredibly beautiful dark take on the track. So good that we decided to include it in both a vocal-mix and as an instrumental.
Bodwan aka Alberto Pagnin from Venice (IT) really surprised us with his "Vcvrs" EP from last year. He has given "Away" the UK-garage treatment of course with a melancholic twist.
Danish newcomer Shatter Hands has twisted the vocals of Red Baron & Katherine Mills Rymer (from OFFJ) in the same manner as he did in his incredible remix of Nanome's "Hunter" last year.

MIKKEL MEYER'S JOLLY EP & VIDEO IS OUT
"Jolly” is Mikkel Meyers fourth release, and his first release on Rump.
The title refers to a Danish cola brand, which had it’s heydays in the late '80’s, and was famous for glossy feel-good ads picturing happy & hip young people having fun at the beach.
Like today the '80’s was similarly a time of financial crises and unemployment but instead of focusing on the crisis Meyer has chosen to escape or rather return to the happy and carefree summer nights of his innocent youth spent at illegal raves.
So in a sense Mikkel Meyer chooses the same escape route from reality on this new EP as the Jolly ads did, presenting 4 tracks stuffed with a modern flashback to Acid-tracks from the Jolly-decade.
Mikkel Meyer explains:
"I've had a hidden dream of doing acid, which suddenly came through in the middle of listening to Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy's guitarpicking. I went to the studio and transcribed some of these guitar arpeggios to patterns on a 303, and realised that this was something I wanted to work with."
The result is newfound melodies combined with the low-key use of vocals, which gives “Jolly” a very personal, outward and nostalgic fingerprint, inviting you to dance and reflect.
The EP is out now on vinyl and digital:

Tracks from the EP have already caused attention and plays on: DUBMISSION ON WYEP 91.3, THE BASIC SOUL SHOW, BUDA PÅ P6 BEAT, NEMONE'S ELECTRIC LADYLAND ON BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC, TOM RAVENSCROFT ON BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC, TOM RAVENSCROFT ON BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC, RESIDENT ADVISOR, FRITZ RADIO NIGHTFLIGHT, NOISEY / VICE & MISCHWERK.FM.

NEW SIGNING & DK TOUR
It's a great honor to welcome Danish producer and modular synth freak Mikkel Meyer to Rump Recordings!
After his acclaimed collaboration with NON from Shadow Huntaz on his debut album ‘BACON’, Mikkel Meyer steps into a new territory of electronic music on his forthcoming "Jolly EP" - out in April, 2014.
Meyer has been inspired by folk artists like Bonnie 'Prince' Billie and uses chord progressions from these styles to shape his music; the chords though are played on classic music machines like the Roland 808 and 303. The result is newfound melodies combined with the low-key use of vocals, which gives ‘Jolly’ a very personal, outward and nostalgic fingerprint, inviting you to dance and reflect.
Mikkel Meyer will be joining Rumpistol on tour in Denmark in March along with UNKWON and visual artist Obscura.

Rumpistol Album Available For Pre-Order
Rumpistol's new album "Away" is now available for pre order.
The title "Away" was chosen because all the tracks on the album obviously deals with absence and the many ways to get lost or to disappear into something else. Whether existentially or in the escapist sense - to be on the run from something or to be heading somewhere unknown – a driving force that Rumpistol has often mentioned in relation to his creative process.
"Everyone knows what it means to be absent, or the unpleasant and almost humiliating feeling it can be to be around absent minded people. Paradoxically, absence usually springs from a total presence. So when you're 100% absorbed in one thing then you tend to forget everything else around you. This is the zone I enter when I work alone with my music " Rumpistol explains.
The 3LP version of Rumpistol's album has been pressed at Optimal in Germany - renowned for their high quality pressings.
The 3LP will only be available in 300 copies.
